meet our director

Maury MitchellMaury Mitchell became the director for the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) in December 2003. Mitchell came to ACJIC with both a legal and technology background. In 1989, he graduated from David Lipscomb University in Nashville with a Computer Information Systems degree. He also graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1993 and worked for ten years in the Alabama Attorney General's Office as an Assistant Attorney General.

Instrumental in the creation of the Law Enforcement Tactical System (LETS) and AlaCOP web portals, Mitchell serves as the 2007 President and national board member of the U.S. Department of Justice-funded organization, Justice Information Sharing Practitioners (JISP). He also has served on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Consensus Council for the development of technology and policy standards related to incident-based crime reporting in the United States. He and his family live in Montgomery, Alabama.
