ACJIC provides law enforcement agencies approved by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with 24/7 direct access to the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC), which includes criminal information such as stolen, missing or recovered guns; stolen articles; wanted or missing persons; stolen or wanted vehicles; stolen license plates; stolen securities; convicted sexual offenders; violent gang and terrorist organizations; and computerized criminal history records.

Officer Down Dedication and Information

There is no greater sacrifice than that of law enforcement officers and professionals who protect and defend the citizens of this state and nation. ACJIC honors each individual serving our state in this manner and, in particular, would like to remember the memory of Alabama's peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in the last year. Their sacrifices shall not go unrecognized. Please click here to access information about Alabama's fallen officers. If you would like more information about benefits or services available to the families and agencies of these officers, please contact the Alabama Attorney General's law enforcement coordinator at (334) 242-7462.

AlaCOP

The Alabama Communications and Operations Portal (AlaCOP) is the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center's (ACJIC) secure web portal for authorized law enforcement and criminal justice officers. Unauthorized use of ACJIC systems are subject to criminal prosecution, including all related computer equipment, networks, and network devices (specifically including Internet access) accessed through or operated by the agency.

investigations

The criminal justice information maintained and/or shared through ACJIC and its information systems is to be used in a manner which ensures the privacy of private citizens within the restrictions of state and federal regulations and laws. Alabama law requires that "disclosure of criminal histories or other information that may directly or otherwise lead to the identification of the individual to whom such information pertains may not be given to any person, any agency, corporation or other legal entity that has neither the 'need to know' or the 'right to know' as determined by the ACJIC Commission." Only authorized law enforcement or criminal justice agencies or personnel may access the information maintained by or obtained through ACJIC's information systems. Any access and any dissemination of this information must be for official law enforcement purposes.

ACJIC employs sworn law enforcement officers (agents) to protect the integrity of the criminal justice information it maintains and the privacy rights of private citizens. These agents have the authority and jurisdiction to enforce the laws of this state pertaining to the operation and administration of the Alabama criminal justice information system and the storage, use, and dissemination of the information maintained by or through ACJIC (§41-9-621, Code of Alabama 1975). ACJIC agents work under the direction of ACJIC's Chief Agent who also is a sworn officer and is the manager of ACJIC's Field Operations Division.
